iReport is an incident-reporting and issue/bug tracking software application written, tested and supported by Oakleaf Consultancy Limited. It is designed to be used by organisations who need to keep track of issues raised internally and by clients, to ensure that these issues are acted upon, and the results of these issues notified to the issue's originator.
An example of this is the following:
Client phones organisation's user help desk.
Client reports a problem with a product that was bought from the organisation previously.
The problem cannot be solved immediately, so the following steps must be taken:
A record of the client's problem must be made.
A member of the organisation's staff must be allocated to work on the problem.
Information about the problem must be recorded.
Other staff must become involved in solving the problem.
The client must be notified of the resolution of the problem.
iReport allows these steps to be recorded and automated.
An "issue" may be created in iReport and then allocated to a member of staff for actioning. That member of staff may record information about the issue, and forward the issue on to someone else for more work.
At each stage, one person is responsible for the issue.
Each person may view a list of issues that they are currently responsible for. Whenever a new issue is created for which they have been made responsible, an email can be automatically sent to them, notifying them of this information.
Management reports to track all issues currently in the system may also be produced.
An online demo is available, to show you what iReport does and how it works. The demo is very simple to use, and instructions for its use are available on this site. It is also possible to download an installation program which will set up iReport on your Windows P.C. This installation program runs in a very short amount of time, and will give you a fully functional version of iReport for a limited period of time. Instructions for downloading and installing this demo are also available from this site. There is no need to install and configure loads of other products first, all necessary installation actions take place at once.
Assuming that its users have access to a web browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer) iReport only needs to be installed on one PC or server. All users can connect to the iReport application using their existing browser.
iReport has several versions, designed for installations of varying numbers of users. All versions may be purchased from Oakleaf Consultancy Limited. The simplest version will run on a single PC, but will still allow other users on your network to connect to the iReport system and update issues in the system.
More powerful versions for larger installations, running on PCs or Linux (or potentially any other system that can run Java - ask Oakleaf for details) are also available. Oakleaf Consultancy Limited will be glad to advise and help you choose and install the correct version for your needs.
Oakleaf Consultancy Limited welcomes any constructive feedback on its products and service. Please contact us using one of the methods described to pass your comments on.
